It is finally summer, and we couldn’t be happier! The warm weather means we get to go and spend our days out on the patio. A typical day outside starts with lunch, where we chat and eat the delicious summery meals put together by Culinary. After lunch, residents have the option of participating in our park activities, that have been adapted for outdoor use, or they can walk around and enjoy our sensational gardens. This means residents can feel the summer breeze while playing a game of Bingo, relaxing with a book, or doing Fitness Fun. With the garden loop being a quarter mile long, residents can also participate in Mileage Club and get some steps in!
One of our favorite activities to do outside is bubble blowing for Recreation Riot. The residents get a good laugh at the bubbles floating by their faces. It also doubles as a breathing exercise! It helps build the stamina of our residents’ lungs through deep breathing while keeping them entertained. When the sun hits the bubbles just right, it makes the prettiest colors! Another favorite outdoor Recreation Riot activity we can’t forget is Bean Bag Toss! With more space to throw the bean bag, we can really see how far we are able to throw. It makes a fun little distance competition!
We know that our residents’ safety is our #1 priority, so we make sure our loved ones are well hydrated and that we apply proper sunblock regularly. We also have residents come back under the patio occasionally to get out of constant sun. As always, our gates and beautiful fence are secured for the safety of our residents. There is also always staff outside with the residents, so nobody goes unsupervised. It makes our outdoor experiences fun and safe for everyone!
We look forward to more of these summer days on the patio when the weather is right, so we can listen to the birds singing and look at the beautiful flowers around our garden.
